Habang naghihirap ang mga Pilipino sa krisis sa ekonomiya at habang nagluluksa ang bansa sa pagkamatay ni dating pangulong Corazon Aquino, nabalita sa midya sa US ang grandiyosong kainan at inuman ni Pang. Arroyo at mga kasamahan niya sa isang mamahaling restawran sa New York noong bumisita ito sa naturang bansa.
Iniulat ng New York Post sa isyu nito noong Huwebes, Agosto 7, ang pagpunta ni Arroyo at mga kasamahan niya sa mamahaling restawran na Le Cirque sa New York “noong nakaraang araw” bago ang paglabas ng naturang isyu ng pahayagan.
Sinabi sa ulat na nag-order ang Pangulo ng maraming mamahaling wine. Umabot umano sa US$20,000 ang tab na binayaran ni Arroyo. Kung kokompiyutin sa piso, aabot ng isang milyon ang ginastos ni Arroyo sa pagkaing iyon sa Le Cirque.

Lumalabas na maging ang pahayagan ay naiskandalo sa naturang balita. “The economic downturn hasn’t persuaded everyone to pinch pennies. Philippines President Arroyo was at Le Cirque the other night with a large entourage enjoying the good life even though the former comptroller of her country’s armed serv ices, Carlos Garcia, was found guilty earlier this year of per jury and two of his sons were arrested in the US on bulk cash-smuggling charges,” ayon sa naturang artikulo ng New York Post.
Ayon sa website nito, ang restawrang Le Cirque ang isa sa pinakabago at pinakagrandiyosong restawran sa siyudad ng New York. May malawak na koleksiyon ito ng mahigit 2,000 mamahaling mga wine.
Ang pinakamahal dito, ayon sa naturang website, ang 1900 Chateau d’Yquem na nagkakahalagang $12,000 o humigit-kumulang P576,000.

I hate saying this to this small but terrible manipulating the Pilipino peoples…she is one of the cause why pilipino being poor up to now?..Why we cannot embrace together for what our beloved Cory Aquino started for?the couples who a sacrificial for our country just to bring back to us the democracy what we are fighting for?and now?what this Gloria administrations doing?she want to take back the two presidential body guard which is really her right as a former President of the Filipino peoples! just because our beloved and one honest President Cory Aquino are against to Gloria’s agenda and now and put vegeance to her for taking the body guard?..What we are doing for peoples of the Philippines,why we are allowing again to happened to be manipulated by this president that peoples put to her on her position…So wake up and don’t let our freedom been dictate to us by a new dictatorship…and who said she is good president!!!look around first and see those peoples who digging food from the trash! just to have one meal on that day?isn’t it so HORRIBLE to think..so why we cannot do something about…lets put back again the Peoples Power,and show to President Aguino that she never alone with this fight!!!!the way we showed unto her burial which is good?but lets show to her the Love and the sacrificial she done for us to be a DEMOCRATIC FORMS OF GOVERNMENT THAN GOVERN BUY THIS BULILIT LIIT NA SACRE SA POWER AND CORRUPT PRESIDENT GLORIA MACAPAGAL..ARROYO NA LEACH TO OUR COUNTRY AND HER TENTACLES NA PURO SAKIM AT GREEDY….LETS GO OUT AND LET TELL THEM THAT WE CANNOT GRAFT THE DEMOCRACY AGAIN TO US…GOD BLESS TO ALL FILIPINO PEOPLES WHOSE PROTECTING OUR RIGHT FROM THIS LEACH BULILIT NA PRESIDENTE…ITAPON ULI NATIN SYA SA FILIPINAS…THANK AND GOD BLESS TO ALL!
