Los Baños, Laguna – Around 40 people, including photographers, artists, NGO workers, and students, marched to the site of the road widening project along Mt. Makiling Ecological Garden Road in Los Baños, Laguna on June 8. They were alarmed by numbers painted on some 300 trees along the road, fearing that these might be cut down next.

Some 29 trees–said to be more than 50 years old–have already been cut and a portion of the road already widened, but the project has been put on hold after the Department of Public Works and Highways received flak for cutting the trees.
