What are the connections between wars, environmental destruction, demolitions of urban poor communities and the so-called “structural adjustment programs” imposed by US-dominated financial institutions like the World Bank and International Monetary Fund upon debt-mired countries such as the Philippines?

This documentary film, by Australian progressive journalist and filmmaker John Pilger, first came out in 1992. The Philippines was among the countries visited by Pilger in his investigations on the effect of foreign debt on poor, underdeveloped countries. The film is as relevant today as it was more than 20 years ago, when the country was led by the current President Benigno Aquino III’s mother, Corazon.
