Watch live the main rising event for One Billion Rising (OBR) for Revolution campaign today, February 14, 2015. Sponsored by Gabriela, Gabriela Women’s Party and New Voice Company, the OBR campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilize for the fight against violence against women and children in all forms, from sexual to political and economic. This year’s theme is Revolution, that is, the campaigners seek to actively identify the “perpetrators” of economic, political and sexual violence against women and children, and launch cultural activities, such as dancing and performances, to engage the public. In the Philippines, the organizers use the theme “Rise against violence, poverty and impunity” and “Rise for truth, justice and accountability” to highlight that women are severely affected by the serious political and economic issues affecting the country today, such as the pork barrel and Disbursement Acceleration Program scandals, as well as the Mamasapano bloodbath.

The main rising event is held at the Bonifacio Shrine in the city of Manila. The organizers also call on the public to mobilize for the activities on March 8, the International Women’s Day.
